Synopsis
Sod 'Em At Gomorrah should be required reading for anyone interested in what life might be like in ten to fifteen years if present trends towards globalisation continue. Are we facing a crisis? Are there any alternatives? This novel provides a fascinating glimpse into a future driven by the increasingly frenetic need to sell. Jake is a successful advertising executive who can hardly call his life his own. In fact, he is in danger of losing the plot as his job and his marriage begin to spin out of control. Even the desirable neighbourhood, the tangible reward for his labours, is under threat...By contrast, the annual Festival in a Derbyshire village offers Kate, an aspiring actress, something more than rural tranquility. The villagers are striving to create a truly sustainable way of life and, as she is drawn closer to her new community, she discovers one individual in particular...Told alternatively from each perspective, an overlapping series of events forces both characters to examine their priorities and to make decisions that will change them forever.
