Author Profile
Since it first opened to the public in 1994, Cynthia and John Ramsden's garden at Fanshawe Gate Hall, on the edge of the Peak District National Park, has become one of the most popular private gardens in Derbyshire. In 2009, a year when 2,500 people visited Fanshawe Gate, Cynthia and John Ramsden became the first garden owners to receive the National Gardens Scheme Exceptional Service award.
Cynthia Ramsden's first book, 'A Garden in my Life', was a sell-out success in 2001. 'Garden Tales' brings her readers up to date with how the garden has developed in the first years of the twenty-first century. It goes behind the scenes at Fanshawe Gate Hall, as gardeners, designers, builders, artists, volunteers and visitors talk about their own lives and what brings them back to Fanshawe Gate year after year.
