Synopsis
The final part of John Williams' Cardiff-trilogy, "The Prince of Wales" sees the Butetown community threatened to the point of extinction by the redevelopment that is changing the face of the city. Set in Cardiff in the first year of the new century, female pimp, Bobby Ranger, decides that it is finally time to track down the father who abandoned her mother before she was born. Local journalist Pete Duke, having fully embraced a midlife crisis, must decide whether he wants to further upset his cosy world and follow what could possibly be the story of his lifetime. Business entrepeneur Leslie St Clair has many successful projects across the city, but will what could possibly be his last attempt at really making it big be scuppered by revelations about his less than salubrious past? All find their lives inextricably entangled and everything in the end seems to lead back to 'The Prince of Wales', a building that has played a part in all of their lives. Against the backdrop of the bay development and the Assembly they try to change their own lives in a city that itself is changing irrevocably. Part love story, part thriller and part search for identity, "The Prince of Wales" is a rich emotional drama.
